Circus rigger shouldn’t have been in elephant enclosure
“We’re still not sure why he went in to the enclosure waving a stick.
He ignored two warnings to get out.”
“This is the first time in the history of circuses and elephants in this country that an incident like this has happened. They’ve been coming here for 200 years and there’s never been something incident like it.”
It happened on a Sunday afternoon.
On Monday afternoon, Mousse, the 26-year-old animal that injured the rigger, was brought for a walk on the beach, along with her two elephant companions. They drew a large crowd, and responded readily to their trainer’s verbal commands.
